Bet tur jau tā lieta - vai tas kāds cits (un kurš?) to darīs tikpat labi, cik oriģinālie developeri, ja šos piespiedīs strādāt pie Oracle. Un vai vispār to darīs - tb attīstīs un uzturēs tālāk. codez Posted April 20, 2009 Report Share Posted April 20, 2009 Es esmu lasījis, ka ir vairākas kompānijas, kuras zem uz MySQL bāzes būvē diezgan advancētass storage engines, kas konkurēs ar Oracle, ta kā es domāju, ka ir vairāki varianti, ka kāda cita kompānija sāk nopietni supurtēt un attīstīt MySQL savā paspārnē. Piemēram: Percona Tāpat arī IBM uz saviem serveriem liek MySQL un ir ieinteresēti šī produkta attīstībā. Sun finally acquired the Swedish database vendor for $1 billion a little over a year ago. MySQL is not mentioned in the statement on the Sun takeover. The FAQPDF on the takeover contains just a single dry sentence, "MySQL will be an addition to Oracle’s existing suite of database products, which already includes Oracle Database 11g, TimesTen, Berkeley DB open source database, and the open source transactional storage engine, InnoDB." What this means – MySQL as Oracle Light? – remains as unclear as the direction of future MySQL development. It's fortunate that the leading figures behind MySQL already have other irons in the fire. Former CEO Marten Mickos followed MySQL founders David Axmark and Monty Widenius by quitting his new employer in February. Widenius is now working on MariaDB, his own version of MySQL, at his new company Monty Program Ab. Aleksejs Posted April 23, 2009 Report Share Posted April 23, 2009 Nu, no uzņēmēja viedokļa - tikai tādēļ neizvēlēties uzņēmuma X produktu, lai viņiem iegrieztu, ir visai grūti ekonomiski pamatojams biznesa mērķis. :) Tas tā - visās vietās, kur ir Oracle, tas tik vienkārši vis prom neies :) P.S. Man ir tikai viena piebilde - apgalvojums "Oracle is business first and focused on integrating a lot of moving parts, and not on innovating or breaking new ground in computing, languages, or security." ir tāds no vienas puses patiess, jo patiešām Oracle vienmēr orientējas uz biznesu un peļņas gūšanu, bet tai pašā laikā, skatoties uz to pašu datubāzi, arī drusku maldinošs - var patikt tās cena vai nepatikt, bet iespēju daudzums ir vislielākais salīdzinot ar citām un daudzas no tām ir ieviestas kā pirmajiem vai vismaz vieniem no pirmajiem. Iespējams, ka kāds domātājs un izgudrotājs daudzas šīs lietas ir kaut kur izfantazējis, par to man nekas nav zināms, bet "saulītē" bieži tās iznes tieši Oracles DBVS.
