Taču spriežot pēc šī (pirmais, ko ieguvu ierakstot mssql data types): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa258271(SQL.80).aspx var definēt varchar - tad būs mainīga garuma... Kaut gan man liekās, ka īsāku var norādīt abos gadījumos, atšķirība ir tikai tajā, ka char vienmēr aizņems pilnībā max definēto garumu, bet varchar faktisko+1 (lai saglabātu skaitli, cik tad garš lauks).
